2012 marked The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and Leicester was given the great honour of being the first stop on her celebratory nationwide tour on 8th March. Accompanied by The Duchess of Cambridge and HRH Prince Philip, the royal party was greeted by dancers at Leicester Station before making visits to De Montfort University to see a fashion show, and to Leicester Cathedral where The Queen attended a special service.
In the afternoon the royal party made their way to the Clock Tower, where they watched a street performance based on the Hindu festival of Holi.
